A persuasive piece: marketing your favorite place in the world- Lesson Plan
Objective: The learner will influence the attitudes of a specific audience by using research skills to create a product to highlight a city in one of the 30 states previously studied. Task Analysis: Big 6 (Web literacy skills) or other Research Model, Persuasive Writing, Graphic Organizers Interview skills, Questioning strategies
Materials: computers, flip cameras, digital cameras, paper, pencils, internet connectivity
Set: Show students “samples of products” highlighting various cities, and the information that you are looking for (Animoto, glogster, photostory, various web 2.0 tools,travel websites & commercials)
Purpose: For students to utilize web 2.0 tools, research tools, and problem solving to create a persuasive piece.
Timeline:
To get students motivated brainstorm as a group some places they could visit.
Students are to research places and collect information that answers the following thoughts: Why would you go there?
Specifically tell places of interests you find.
Accommodations (places to stay), transportation
Climate
Historical Interest
Geographical interest
Using technology tools of your choice, share your knowledge with your classmates, pubish on web (wiki site), or set up a skype session with school outside of your state.
